How A Gateman Was Arrested For Trying To Sell His Employer’s Toyota Car Of 3M For Meagre N350,000 In Cross River
Security agents of the Cross River State Police have apprehended Godswill Ezekiel Ugbe, a security watchman, for making an attempt to sell the car of his employer. This car is valued to cost about N3 million but Godswill wanted to sell it for only N350,000.
The suspect was apprehended by the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad Unit as he was driving the car to meet a buyer along the Atimbo/Akpabuyo Road.
Based on a report from the PUNCH, an eyewitness said the AKCS (Dragon Squad) Commander, SP Abdulhameed Awodi, commandeer the operation because of intelligence he gathered which led to the retrieval of the car, a Toyota Camry with the registration Number KT 114 LH.
The AKCS (Dragon Squad) were said to be on patrol duty when they noticed a Toyota Camry which they presumed was stolen.
Though, the driver zoomed off towards Bakassi the moment he noticed the Dragon Squad coming closer to the vehicle. But He was chased and detained.
The employer of the suspect was said to live outside of the country and employed Godswill to safeguard his property plus his two cars, one of which Godswill tried to sell.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police, DSP Irene Ugbo, while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of Godswill, said, “He is a gateman contracted to guard a compound and some vehicles since the owner and his employer is living outside of the country, but he(Godswill) decided attempting selling off one his employer’s cars.
“Unluckily for him, the Anti–Kidnapping & Cultism Squad Policemen, on patrol duty, suspected that the car was stolen and pursued him. After Godswill arrest, they found out that he was attempting to sell the car off for a small N350,000. Of which, that car cost about N3 million.
“He has admitted to the crime and would be taken to court as soon as possible.”
