Tinubu Pledges To Emulate Buhari’s ‘Incorruptible’ Nature

Nigerian National Leader of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Bola Tinubu has pledged to emulate and follow the foot steps of President Muhammdu Buhari in his ‘incorruptible’ nature.

Tinubu’s Pledge

In his speech at the inauguration of APC primaries for the state and national assemblies on the 20th of August 2019, Tinubu said: “We are going to further remain incorruptible, that has been the tradition of the President (Buhari), we want to follow his footsteps in that regard.”

Buhari's Incorruptible Nature

President Buhari’s commitment to fight graft and his incorruptible nature has been demonstrated in his administration. After assuming office in 2015, his administration has successfully jailed corrupt officials, ensuring they are made to face justice. As a result, his administration has gone to great lengths to try to see that the monies that have been stolen by officials are recovered.

The Outlook for Tinubu

It is no doubt that Tinubu been largely involved in the formation of the APC and other aspects of politics in Nigeria. It is expected that having publicly pledged to follow the foot steps of President Buhari in his ‘incorruptible' nature, Tinubu would work towards ensuring that party members remain steadfast in their commitment to the fight against corruption.

However, the former governor’s pledge has been met with some mixed reactions. People speculating that the pledge means Tinubu maintains his commitment to the fight against corruption and his pledge to hold governance up on an ethical and legal basis.

Tinubu’s Legacy

Some believe that as an elder statesman, Tinubu has an opportunity to solidify his legacy in Nigerian history by fostering an ethical and law abiding Nigeria. If he follows in the footsteps of President Buhari's ‘incorruptible' nature, a lot of the corruption cases which persist in Nigeria would be non-existent.

Tinubu has set out a very admirable goal for himself by pledging to follow in the footsteps of President Buhari in his ‘incorruptible' nature. With a stronger adherence to the fight against corruption, Tinubu would be able to solidify his legacy in Nigerian history for years to come.
As an ambitious Nigerian leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to adopt the same incorruptible nature of President Muhammadu Buhari, especially when it comes to issues of integrity and political dealings.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, spoke to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Saturday, where he expressed his profound admiration for Buhari’s steadfast commitment to stemming the tide of corruption. He implored the ruling APC to emulate such unwavering integrity.

Tinubu said he has “seen the difference President Buhari has made in Nigeria’s political landscape and I will do my best to emulate his commitment to creating a better future for Nigeria.” He added that President Buhari has proven himself to be a “remarkable leader,” as he has “faithfully kept his promise to Nigerian citizens that he would build a stronger and more prosperous nation.”

The APC has been successful in creating a climate of economic growth, united by the popular sentiment that corruption should no longer be tolerated. Tinubu emphasized this life-altering sentiment, reiterating that “if everyone adopts the principles of incorruptibility, we can be sure of a different Nigeria, a Nigeria where citizens can enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

Tinubu’s pledge of integrity marks a new era of accountability for Nigerian politicians. His aim is for all citizens to benefit from the fruits of political stability, which can only be accomplished by the adoption of these practices of transparency.
