Do you know which country drinks the most coffee in the world?

No other drink in the world is as popular as coffee. It is conservatively estimated that people around the world drink 400 billion cups of coffee per year. This makes coffee the second most exported commodity in the world, behind oil. In many European and American households, breakfast isn't complete without a cup of coffee. There are many different ways of brewing coffee, and I must confess all of them are flavorful.

The top two nations that are predicted to be the most coffee drinkers in the world are Finland and Sweden. In Finland, coffee consumption is expected to reach 12.5 kg per capita, while in Sweden it is projected to reach 11.4 kg per capita. These countries are followed by Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands.

The International Coffee Organization released its ranking of countries by coffee consumption per capita. The data was collected and analyzed to arrive at the rankings, which take into account the kilograms of coffee downed per person in a whole year. Now let’s look at these countries one after the other:

1. Finland: Consumes 12 kg per person per year

This is likely due to the cold temperatures that much of the country experiences – coffee provides warmth and energy that helps people get through the day.
